There is a lot of talk of moving beyond “deconstruction” to reconstruction.

Of course it goes almost without saying that when the predominate tide shifts from deconstruction to construction or even reconstruction we will have moved to post-postmodernism. Because we will no longer be in reactionary/rejection mode but will be pursuing our new “vision.”

Thus the deconstructive nature of postmodernity is more than essential to its role in human social development – I dare say that society and especially the church maybe talking about reconstruction too soon.

In order for new life there must be death to the old. And I don’t think that the modern church is willing to die gracefully. She’s putting up a hell of a fight, and its going to get more intense.
