“Theology is the study of God and [God’s] ways.  For all we know, dung beetles may study us and our ways and call it humanology.  If so, we would probably be more touched and amused than irritated.  One hopes that God feels likewise.”

– Frederick Buechner

I love engaging in theological conversation, as I am always searching for better language to describe God and my experience of God. I am so fortunate, that I get to engage in such conversation more and more, sometimes I’m even getting paid to – how cool is that!  For a long time I have sensed that before going to sleep it may be wise to ask God to forgive me for my thoughts and language of God.  If God is infinite, and I am finite, I will never express truth of God. When I speak of the Divine I can only do so as me, located, particular, limited, infinite, and foolish.

One of my prayers is that I don’t muddy the waters too much; that, through we see through a glass dimly; that I might be a person with a Windex bottle in one hand and a paper towel in the other.

peace, dwight

Have you read the poem/prayer by CS Lewis on language and talking about God? It‘s definately in the windex and paper cloth variety. I love this picture, it keeps us humble!
