Last night Lynette and I soaked in some great live music at the 9th annual, Jackson Street Jazz Walk. We hadn’t been before, but you can know that this event will be a fixture in our Fall rhythm going forward. It was great. This year’s Jazz Walk had six stages at various restaurants, bars, The Pratt, and a few businesses along Jackson. I hadn’t realized just how big The Pratt Fine Arts Center is, that place is amazing. The Pratt hosted two of the stages, and also opened up their facility to Jazz Walk attendees with artists onsite creating and demonstrating what they’re all about.

We got to hear The Jean Chaumont Group, Rik Wright’s Fundamental Focus, and the Good Company Trio with Butch Harrison… wish we could’ve heard them all.

We also grabbed dinner at a new restaurant on Jackson – at least new to us – Oaky’s Tex Mex. We shared their loaded Queso and a Burria French dip… slow braised brisket, cilantro, mozzarella, pickled red onions, French roll, and my o my, their house made au jus… to die for. Will definitely be back.

Peace, dwight
