Look at the way Highway 99 literally cuts through a neighborhood street.

David Kroman, a staff reporter for the Seattle Times, has been covering the story of a grassroots movement to decommission a section of Hwy 99 and to reconnect two parts of Seattle’s South Park neighborhood that was cut in two.

Cote Soerens is an active and vital local organizer in growing the movement to restore the wholeness of her neighborhood. Cote is interviewed in this article. She is such a wise and thoughtful person. I encourage you to take a look at the article.

More importantly, I encourage you make a trip down to Seattle’s South Park neighborhood, being sure to visit Resistencia Coffee, or any one of the locally owned and operated cafes, shops, restaurants, or pubs. While there be sure ask a resident what it might mean for South Park to have that section of Hwy 99 decommissioned and to have their neighborhood reconnected again.

Peace, dwight
