U2 in Boston 2001

Thirty-five years ago today U2 released “Joshua Tree.” Few recordings have impacted me as much as this one did. I don’t think I’d be exaggerating in saying that I’ve listen to it hundreds…maybe thousands of times.

I was first introduced to the band by a friend when I was in junior high. “October” was my first exposure. And by the time “War” was released, I was a real fan boy. I still don’t understand why some music connects with people so deeply, but for a season U2 was a vital part of my life.

I was one of those people who lined up at my local record store to purchase “Joshua Tree” at midnight… 12:00AM on this day in 1987, purchasing both the vinyl and the CD. Shout out to little record store in the Brandon Shoppers Mall, your store is long gone but the music is forever.

While I no longer follow U2, you can be sure I’ll be listening to the “Joshua Tree” today.

Peace, dwight
