“Spiritual Direction” is the theme of the February 8, 2021 edition of The Presbyterian Outlook. The issue provides resources to support Christian faith communities in their ongoing work of discerning the presence and invitation of the Holy Spirit through its local context. The issue explores a variety of approaches to this vital work, one of which was the book that Tom Sine and I recently released with Fortress Press. 2020s Foresight presents what might be thought of as a collective spirituality of listening to the future. The book is a blending of Benedictine Listening practices and futures forecasting and is teeming with examples of churches anticipating the future.

The book review was written by Eric Peltz. Eric is the associate pastor of Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

I need to say a big thank to Eric for taking the time to meaningfully engage our book, for imagining how it could serve The Presbyterian Outlook’s readers, and for crafting such a great piece. Check it out!

Peace, dwight
