In the late 2000’s (maybe 2009?) at Washington State’s Sasquatch Festival during a performance by Santigold of her hit, “Unstoppable” a lone guy starts dancing on a hill.

Derek Sivers made this video famous by using it to illustrate the birth of a movement. Sivers demonstrates the power of first followers. Suggesting that it is the first followers who transform a lone nut (aka “leader”) into a movement. It raises important questions about what is more powerful, a leader or a early follower? What does a leader do? What do first followers do? The role(s) of early adopters, etc. I remember watching this years ago, and I still find it compelling.

Peace, dwight
