Recently a friend invited me to take a closer listen to some of the music of Minnesota-based, Cloud Cult. I’m really glad I did. On a peripheral level I was aware of them through KEXP (the world’s greatest independent radio station)… but having spent more time with their discography lately I just feel a deep resonance with their work.

I wanna say a big thank you to Joel for this invitation to slow down and listen more closely, and I wanna thank the band for their holy work… my heart has a new friend.

Here is a short — Emmy winning video biography — of Cloud Cult that was produced a few years back. Some of the band members are from Duluth, Minnesota, which is pretty close to where my partner’s mom is from. Warrod & International Falls are in my wife’s blood. Anytime I see artists, or bands emerge from, and seek to remain connected to their small town of origin my heart leaps a little. A few of the members helped create Earthology Institute which used advocacy, science, and the arts. Earthology Institute provides resources and an action network that disseminates critical, forward thinking and practical tools for the advancement of human health, sustainability, and the environment.

Earthology Institute advocates positive environmental change with a focus on sustainability, environmental toxins, human health, ecological integrity, proactive and positive living in the 21st century, advocacy through the arts, and tools for green living. They’ve helped create an Earthology Retreat Center & Park.

Please, please, please if you write, play, sing, paint, dance, dream, imagine or otherwise create and seek honest expression of the real please risk offering it to the world. I need you, and others do too.

Peace, dwight
