The God Day

by Lynette Friesen

  I came to him
Open to the pain of my sin
  The regret and remorse
  The fall-on-your-knees cries of failure

Wanting to seek what he has for me
Knowing I come so short of the goal

But do you know what he did?

  He told me "Joy"
He said to take his freedom and dance
To savor the pleasure of this day
To celebrate the gifts of the people and the peace for today

To join him in the celebration
To let the "what ifs" go
And savor the beauty of his love
To let it wash over me
To run and play and laugh with him
  On this God day.

Peace, dwight
