Today’s entry is intended for use by those who proactively shape the ethos of Quest by participating as our hosting forum.

Quest’s “Hosting Forum” is the gathering of participants from our spiritual community who intentionally & collectively discern on behalf of our larger group. Some church expressions are “led” by clergy, a session, elders, deacons, or any number of committee structures; the hosting forum is our structure. We are on a journey to become an ever more open and hospitable community. Imagining practical ways of curating our gatherings, online presence, liturgies, retreats, justice initiatives, conversational themes, and values is this group’s service.

It is our desire that by engaging in our community’s various gatherings we might become a more welcoming and loving community. Our sense is that a community of people is needed to steward an environment conducive to the kind of lifestyle-hospitality we feel invited to discover. So if you are part of Quest – a Christ Commons please know that we welcome you, your voice, and your perceptive. While we do have a facilitator for our meetings and a person who has covenanted to steward our financials, we welcome all who consider themselves to be part of Quest. If you are just beginning to check out Quest we have numerous gatherings for you to get to know us as you seek to determine whether we’re might be a fit for your spiritual journey; but this gathering is kinda like a family meeting.

Here are a few house keeping details for our up-coming hosting forum:

  • Our next Hosting Forum: Wed 1/12 @ 7:PM (bring Nouwen having chapter 3 read)
  • How about quest at the movies: Tues 12/28 – time? place? Meet at a theater and figure out what to see when we get there?
  • I am planning to facilitate our gathering on Jan 2.
  • We need facilitation people/teams for:
    • 1/9 (The Meal) – I think Jen wanted to host
    • 1/16 (Expression Gathering)
    • There is a fifth Sunday in Jan (open mic/prayer/worship/what does our community need?)
  • Updates Regarding:
    • connect lists
    • retreat
    • supporting our community groups

I know this is a rough sketch. But if some folks can pick-up Jan 9 & Jan 16 we can likely cover the rest at our next forum.

quest goes to the movies: i vote for "the life aquatic with steve zissou." many people will already be back to work, but the unemployed club would likely be in attendance. evening might be better for those who are employed, but for some reason tueday nights is UNVIERSALLY yoga night (i can‘t find a yoga class that meets on another night…)

as far as the address updates, i left the freakin‘ list at your house and haven‘t been by to pick it up. i‘ve received a few more updates via e-mail. what‘s the best way to get the list out and about? do we want hardcopies? the idea was tossed around that each person could, at his/her option, have a pic or icon nect to their name just for fun. of course, that means much more e-mailing and all, and we seem to have an unusually high percentage of procrastinators in our group! so i‘m guessing that probably wouldn‘t work out very efficiently time-wise.

whew, that was a long response to a brief post…

I like Tuesday day/night better than Wed Night.

I‘m for the Life Aquatic – unless too many people have already seen it. I haven‘t.

Quite late to the discussion, but why didn‘t we do the Sunday night movie thing, when everyone was more or less assured of being available (as they‘d most likely already scheduled time to be at Quest)?
