Thinking about syncing… I recently finishing reading Steven Strogatz’s book “Sync: the emerging science of spontaneous order.”
Is God subject to God’s creation? Usually Christians have answered, “No.” For example we would usually say something like the genders of male female (and possibility the nebulous “other”) are inadequate descriptors of God. We have tended to see as sexuality is part of God’s creation, which finds its fulfillment in God, but in no way places any kind of limit on God’s expression of Godself.
Been thinking a little about good ol’ Captain Happy, aka. Nietzsche, and his book “Beyond Good and Evil” within the this context of Sync. God reveals himself to be “good” and thus by defining good, God also defines evil. And to give definition is to create. It can be said that evil finds its origin in the goodness of God related beyond Godself.
What might happen if our theology reflected a God who is beyond human categories of Good and Evil (Ok I know that may not be possible but I’m brainstorming, OK). And our experience of both good and evil were to find fulfillment in the person of God through Christ.
What might it look like for a person to so live with Christ, that all constructs of morality were void?
If we consider the interaction of God with Satan as seen in the book of Job, it appears that God elicits Satan’s engagement of Job. With just a simple reading of Job, it sure appears that God directs evil for God’s purposes and those purposes seem more than a little veiled.
The thought of syncing Good and Evil together in Christ may both challenge and encourage us to receive all as glorious gifts and invitations to relationship with God. As job experienced, but then of course there is the other side…
