Michael Polanyi writes, “Since rules of rightness cannot account for failures, and reasons for doing something can only be given within the context of rules of rightness, it follows that there can be no reasons (in this sense) for a failure.”

I found this encouraging and I’m not sure why; maybe in part because I often choose “failure” as a personal descriptor. I thought this might encourage others who have felt like a ministry failure, pastoral failure, parenting failure, etc.
