My good friends, colleagues, and fellow labors for a better urban future for all and everything at Faith for Cities have issued a call for papers for a conference in this November in Indonesia. The theme is: “Religion & the Cities We Need.” Mark your calendar, November 4-7, 2025. UN-Habitat runs a campaign called The City We Need Now! (the PDF is below).

As the Faith for Cities website says:

As cities grow and face rising challenges—from inequality and housing insecurity to climate shocks and civic fragmentation—faith communities are stepping forward as trusted, enduring partners. Yet, their voices remain underrepresented in global urban policy and planning.

Religion and the Cities We Need is a four-day international gathering of faith leaders, scholars, urban practitioners, and policy thinkers. For the first two days the gathering is a concurrent session of the 13th International Graduate Students and Scholars’ Conference in Indonesia (IGSSCI), which has overlapping themes and concerns with the “Religion and the Cities We Need” gathering. The final two days will be held independently at the same venue, allowing the gathering to conduct its own focused sessions and collaborative work.

Join a growing movement of cross-sector collaboration incorporating the vital role of faith-based organizations as allies in addressing urban challenges.

I have submitted my proposal for a presentation & paper, that will introduce the Inner development Goals (IDGs) to the Faith for Cities constituents, highlighting the many realms of potential collaboration.

I don’t know if I will be able to raise the funds to get there in person, but my fingers are crossed. I hope you can participate, and if not you than pass the link along to those you know who care sustainability, and are mobilizing folks to engage more sustainable and peaceful practices as an expression of their religious or spiritual tradition.

Peace, dwight
