Speechless and grieved upon learning of the death of one the the truly beautiful people on this planet… Brian Bajari died Tuesday, February 20, 2024; this year Brian would have been 53.

If you were blessed to have encountered Brian than I know that at least once in your life you were seen, heard, treasured, and felt the love that seemed to effortlessly pour forth from this wise and tender-hearted man. Courageous in the face of injustice and oppression, while a friend in loneliness, loss, and at the margins Brian was a person of gorgeous presence. I can’t imagine Monterey, CA without him… yet I know his legacy lives on in many. He just saw people, made space for them, and helped them to feel their preciousness.

I was fortunate enough to connect with Brian through the Parish Collective, at the Inhabit Converference, and through his participation in the Leadership in the New Parish certificate program at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. What’s more, he’s taken me on a guided tour of his place, and helped me to see something of the real Monterey, beyond the golf courses, and beautiful beaches.

In coming days, I hope to take in many of the tributes, remembrances, and celebrations of his life. I know I am a better human for encountering him. The video at the top of this post is Brian’s TEDx talk from back in 2013, but the video below is a tiny glimpse into the heart of the Brian whom I’ve known just a little… I know more of Christ having seen Brian Bajari.

For all who have known and loved… or experienced love through Brian, you are not alone in your sadness and grief.

Rest in peace Brian, dwight

Brian was a dear friend. We met several years ago in Carmel and became close friends. Our conversations usually bordered on spirituality and how humanity could be helped. I last spoke with him February 6th. I miss him already. He’s irreplaceable. May you never meet any strangers, Brian.

Ali, Have you heard if or when there is a funeral or a memorial being planned?
