Since its creation, United Nations Habitat has been striving to put practical tools in the hands of local people and communities to equip them with the needed information, inspiration, and ideas to mobilize grassroots people to bring about real change for more holistically sustainable cities. Its most recent publication is a great solid example.
As many in our world are realizing we are unlikely to achieve the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, they are also waking to the reality that our climate is in real crisis. UN-Habitat has recently revised its “City We Need Document” in light of the global failure of resolve, the revised resource is called, “The City We Need NOW!” Emphasis on the “NOW!”

I recommend taking “The City We Need NOW!” – toolkit and engage it with a small group of friends, and make a plan to engage in some collective action together. Personally, I’m planning to use the document at my church to have “New Frontiers in Christian Mission” conversation, and begin gearing up for a collective in October (world city day).
