During the World Urban Forum 10 in Abu Dhabi urban thinkers and practitioners from around the world and from a number faith traditions gathered at the invitation of the Urban Shalom Society. These gatherings serve multiple purposes it seems to me: certainly we gather to present our best research, thinking, and observations about how to activate people within our respective places through our respective faith traditions to work toward more just and sustainable cities & bio-regions.
Another important aspect of this work involves forging of interpersonal relationship not only across national lines but religious. Friendship matters, and it’s amazing what can happen when the day’s presentations are over and an eclectic group of unlikely friends share a meal.
Most of the Urban Shalom Society forum sessions were hosted at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church and the Reverend Canon Andrew Thompson.
