One of the most vital conversations at the intersection of: cities, humans, environment, design, and faith is happening at Thriving Cities. As their website says, “Thriving Cities Group uses a multi-disciplinary approach that brings together decades of research, training, community organizing and technology.” Essentially they are a center for, what they call “urban human ecology.” The above, recent whiteboard video walks through their framework for thriving by highlighting their six interanimating and interconnected realms… what they refer to as The Six Endowments:
- The True: The realm of Human knowledge & Learning
- The Good: The realm of Social Mores & Ethics
- The Beautiful: The realm of Creativity Esthetic & Design
- The Sustainable: The realm of Natural & Physical Health
- The Just: The realm of Political & Civic Life
- The Prosperous: The realm of Economic Life
This is outstanding. It is important to remember – as they stress – there is no hierarchy of these six realms, rather all six are perichoretically interpenetrating.
