Since this month has a fifth Sunday we will engage our collective practice of c celebrating with a neighborhood organization to practice loving God by loving our neighbor. We like to say that one of the most practical ways to love your neighbor is to care for our neighborhood.
If you’ve been part of Quest for a while you know we engage in a variety of collaborative projects. We do so for a few reasons. One we want to expose ourselves to more of what is happening in and around our context. We also want to meet more neighbors who are working toward the common good of this place we all call home. Its always nice to know we are not alone in caring for our place.
Also if you’ve done this with us before then you know that only part of what makes this time so great is the actual work that we do; though the work is really important. We also get to work with each other in a different kind of setting, and we get to meet other people. Let me encourage you to actively look for opportunities to thank people for coming out and serving. Its a real gift to bless people and thank our neighbors for their love and care for our place and its people. I find it encouraging to discover the many people who are purposefully engaging in collaborative projects our place and its people, animals, land, systems.
Sunday, October 22 we will be gathering 10:00 AM at the Bellevue Lake Hills Kelsey Creek shopping center (on the empty lot), to participate in the Lake Hills Greenbelt project. We will be joining an initiative to help get rid of invasive blackberries while re-planting indigenous plants in the wetland. Plan to get dirty, and if you have gloves you may want to bring them. Let’s tentatively plan to grab lunch afterward. See you then.
