Please pray for 84 year-old Pope John Paul II. His health is failing and the Roman Church is preparing for his home-going. As the Pontiff for about one-half of all the world’s Christians. He has already received the “Holy Viaticum” — communion reserved for those close to death.

Also, the church of Rome will need God’s wisdom as it prepares for John Paul’s successor.

Peace, dwight

pray tell why i should pray for the pope?

    he is dead now.

    1. i do not believe in prayer.
    2. the pope does not affect my life in anyway.
    3. i do not believe in and type of religion or god.
    4. it is arrogant of you to assume anyone but you cares.
    5. the pope was just a man who lead an incredibly easy, luxurious life and ran the richest business in the world and never paid a piaster in taxes.
    6. looks like the prayers did not work.

Cathy, I am so saddened by your post, and feel a little surprised at the tone of your response. As you may know, roughly 1/6 of the world‘s population looks to the Pope as their church head, an under shepherd of Jesus Christ. Whatever one‘s belief, when a neighbor grieves, the relational invitation is to enter their grief as best as one is able. If one cannot enter their neighbor’s grief, to at least make space for the other’s loss seems humane. It was certainly not my intention to be either sick or perverted. Thanks for expressing your encounter of my site, I hope we’ll have the chance to speak more.
