A little more than 50 years ago, Nobel laureate Erwin Schrödinger delivered a series of lectures which – as they often do – turned into a book entitled, “What is life?”
Schrödinger’s exploration of this question has been visited and revisited by many within the new sciences, the quest for AI and the like, I too have been lured it by his brilliance. I am in the process of crafting an argument claiming that relationships are living personal beings.
What is life? How do we know if something is living? Are systems living? If something evolves is that evolutionary process a sign of life? If relationships are living – at least a living systems – can one go further, ascribing a type of personhood, essence or being to relations? I am hoping to answer “yes.”
If you know of any sources or scholars arguing for a sense of relationships as living personal beings (nuanced or even with a different emphasis) please let me forward any info to me. I need help.
Peace, dwight
